Fillmore Jazz Festival
Long considered the heart and soul of the city by the bay, The Fillmore has gone through a variety of changes through the years. It was first home to the likes of Billie Holliday and Count Basie—then passing on to the bebop of Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. In the 60's, the neighborhood housed the counterculture kids: Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead. The first jazz fest was held in 1985, after years of revitalization. Now, the music's returned in a big way. Fillmore Jazz Festival details
