2014 Switchboard Music Festival
Brava TheaterSaturday, April 12, 2-10pm Held annually at the Brava Theater, the Switchboard Music Festival is an 8-hour, non-stop showcase uniting a diverse collection of musicians sharing a common desire to push the envelope on traditional music genre distinctions. This world renowned festival is dedicated to bring forward eclectic and innovated music from the San Francisco area and beyond. Founded in 2007 by Ryan Brown, Jon Russell, and Jeff Anderle, the seventh annual Switchboard Music Festival is designed to support the music that may go unnoticed by not being in the mainstream. This event brings together and develops a sense of community between the performers, composers and bands that often face difficulty when trying to simply have their music heard. This year’s performers include Grex, Odessa Chen + The Invisible Stories Ensemble, Jordan Glenn & Michael Coleman, Matthew Welch's Blarvuster, Makeunder, The Operators plays Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), Splinter Reeds plays Tom Johnson, and Gamelan X. Located in the heart of the San Francisco’s historic Mission District, Brava Theater is a historic community theater and once vaudeville house and art movie house. The building was purchased by Brava in 1986 and has since been renovated to what is now a vibrant fixture in the Mission. Brava is now in its third decade thought-provoking presentations, theater, music and educational programs.
