San Francisco Pride 2014
One of the most well known LGBT celebrations, the largest of its kind in the nation, and certainly one of the most storied, the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade runs for its 44th consecutive year in 2014. The celebration begins on June 28th, which is the date of the 1969 police raid on New York’s Stonewall Inn). Each year’s celebration is thematic—this year’s theme is “Color Our World with Pride.”
Join over 200 parade contingents, 300 exhibitors, and more than 20 stages and venues at this year’s celebration! San Francisco Pride has hosted such acts as Lady Gaga, the Backstreet Boys, Crystal Waters, and Solange Knowles, among others. The celebration’s main stage spreads forth from the steps of City Hall out into Civic Center Plaza, where cherished San Fran politician Harvey Milk delivered his rousing speeches against the prevailing homophobia of the day. The celebration is made possible by people like the late Milk, and indebted to his tireless campaigning. Share in the joyous revelry of hundreds of thousands the weekend of June 28th. More information about the parade and general celebration can be found at http://www.sfpride.org/.
