One of the most popular racing events in the nation, Bay to Breakers 2015 is here and better than ever. Kids, shield your eyes - this is a race unlike anything you've ever seen. The Bay to Breakers 2015 official race time begins at 8am on Saturday, May 17 - but the true spectacle of the event is the people. From far and wide, locals and guests arrive to take over the streets of San Francisco from the Embarcadero all the way to the beach. The official race route is a 12K that tears through the Great Highway along the Pacific Coast's Ocean Beach. The beauty of the Bay to Breakers race it that it hits on some of the city's most iconic neighborhoods, offering runners a unique perspective on the city view. With street closures throughout the race, sail through Hayes Valley, the Panhandle, Golden Gate Park and more as patrons celebrate your accomplishments on the side. The biggest and most iconic part of the race is the runners - with more than a million runners since 1912, the costumes have only gotten more inventive over the years. There's always a ton of course entertainment - and its not always planning by the Bay to Breakers committee. With an early morning start time, make sure that you're staying someone nearby so you get a good night's rest before race day. With the King George in the heart of downtown San Francisco, easily walk to the starting gate and fuel up on carbs before the hike through SF. It's the perfect pick-me-up to any race day jitters!
