About 2 year(s) ago by King George Enjoy a cool event for an even cooler cause at the San Francisco Street Food Festival. Since 2009, the festival has brought a worldwide variety of street food to San Francisco’s Mission District for one day of fun festivities. Taste a pork empanada, or perhaps some West African food, or possibly a blitz. Whatever you do, come prepared to taste a lot of food from a lot of street vendors to get a glimpse of San Francsico’s amazing, and growing, scene.
Prices are standardized, at $3-4 for an appetizer and $7-8 for an entrée at each booth, and at the end of the day you’ll know a lot more local food vendors and restaurants to choose from next time you want to go out. Nearly 80,000 people attend each year. The event is free, but donations are encouraged.
The festival will take place from 11am-7pm August 17 on Folsom Street, and it’s a good idea to get there early to avoid crowds.
