Party Like it's 1899 at the Great Dickens Fair - Cow Palace, SF

Hear ye, hear ye! Has modern life got you down? Want to dive into the holiday season with more zest and sauce than in years gone by? Well, the Great Dickens Christmas Fair at the Cow Palace is just for all ye gentlemen and little women! Get five weekends of proper fun including Black Friday (who wants to compete with those crowds anyway?)! The dates are as follows: November 21, 22, 27- 29, Dec. 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20. All event days go from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm.

What can you expect at this all-out old-fashioned shindig? Lots of locals and out-of-towners alike in era appropriate costumes and personalities (though not required) and the chance to mix and mingle with Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and the rest of Dicken's cast of characters.

Toast your gauntlet to Gourmet chefs who will be treating patrons to food from around the world including France, Greece and, of course, England.

Plus, you'll have plenty of room to get into character, as 120,000 square feet of the Bay Area venue transforms into a twinkling, aromatic night in Charles Dickens' London Town.

2015 acts may include entertainment such as Dangerous Puppets; Sing-A-Long Shanty Session; Paddy West Nautical Music & Songs; Coventry Carolers; Congress of Wonders & Atrocities and too many more to list.

Here's a quick victorian tidbit to help get you in the spirit: Did you know that some mustached-men folk in the 1800s sipped out of a special tea cup that protected their facial hair from unsightly cream and sugar? Hail the milk mustache!

So kick up your heels and show some frillies and get yourself to the holiday party of the 19th century!

To get to the Cow Palace on BART from our hotel in Union Square, take the Powell Street station to the Balboa Park station and go here for further directions, cost and maps.

Make your accommodations to stay with us if you're coming in town just for the fair!
